A fire that was reported in a Kamloops home has damaged contents and the room where the fire started.

Kamloops Fire Rescue received reports of a structure fire in the 600 block of Belmont Crescent at roughly 4:30 p.m., April 17. Two engines, a ladder truck, a rescue vehicle and 14 crew members responded to the blaze, said platoon captain Wade Lindoff.

When crews arrived they noticed smoke coming from the basement of the home. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which caused damage to the room and its contents, but didn’t damage the structure, Lindoff said.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the fire prevention officer, he said.
