KAMLOOPS - An out-of-control fire is raging east of Kamloops.

Hannah Swift, fire information officer, confirmed a fire is currently raging 25 kilometers east of Kamloops, just south of Hook Road. B.C. Wildfire Service Crews and air tankers are at the scene to tamper the blaze, which is currently classified as out of control.

They are calling it the Buse Creek wildfire and it is 19 hectares in size, the B.C. Wildfire webpage says.

Swift said the Pritchard volunteer fire department is assisting with battling the blaze. Structures near the fire are not currently threatened.

There are currently no road closures and no railways have been impacted.

Swift said the fire is believed to be caused by humans and there is an investigation underway.

Videos and photos on social media show that smoke is visible from Highway 1 and Highway 97.
