Finning Q4 profit up as heaving equipment seller flexes South American strength

VANCOUVER - Vancouver-based heavy-equipment dealer Finning International Inc. (TSX:FTT) says strong sales in South America during the fourth quarter offset weakness in its Canadian and European operations. As a result, revenue was just under US$1.8 billion — about two per cent below a record set a year earlier. Its profit improved dramatically, however, with net income rising to $105 million or 61 cents per share, up from $71 million or 41 cents per share a year before.
