PENTICTON - Fire crews are making steady progress controlling the 2,228 hectare Finlay Creek wildfire.

B.C. Wildfire Information Officer Heather Rice reports today, Sept. 13, the fire is now 100 per cent contained after calm winds and cooler temperatures over the last couple of days provided wildfire crews some assistance.

Smoke will still be visible from the fire, but will be contained within the perimeter of the containment lines.

A total of 122 personnel, four pieces of heavy equipment and a helicopter continue to work the fire today.

Rice says this will be the last day for the fire to be directed under an incident management team.

An area restriction on Crown land in the vicinity of the fire is still in effect.

The Meadow Valley area remains under an evacuation alert. For more information on evacuation notices and alerts see the Central Okanagan Regional District website and the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen website for more details.
