Find the kids something to do for spring break

KELOWNA – There are no shortage of things to do with the kids, or places to send the kids, over the two-week spring break in Kelowna.

Spring break kicks off Monday, March 16 before wrapping up on Friday, March 27 with all kinds of activities and day camps planned by various organizations around town. The best advice is to pre-register for the camps in case the one you want is full.

Along with the regular programs for children and teenagers, the Okanagan Regional Library branches in Kelowna and West Kelowna have special spring break offerings. Head to the ORL website for all the details. Each branch runs its own programs.

The City of Kelowna has scheduled all kinds of camps from arts to sports. Check out the city’s website for information and registration details.

It’s half-day aquatic, sports and theme camps at the Kelowna Family YMCA and the H2O Adventure and Fitness Centre. The camps are targeted toward children from ages five to 12. The Family YMCA and H2O websites have all the details you need to get planning.

The District of West Kelowna’s recreation department is providing opportunities for swimming and skating at its facilities, plus day camps. All the fees and schedules are here on the District’s website.

Pacific Sports Kelowna is back with their XploreSportZ camps. Children ages nine to 12 can experience new and exciting sports with the help of certified coaches. All the details about camp content, dates, times and registration can be found at the website.

The Kelowna Art Gallery and the Bumbershoot Theatre have teamed up to offer art and theatre camps over the two weeks of spring break. They include field trips into the city’s Cultural District. To learn more, check out the website.

Dig fossils, get trenched, take the fruit packers challenge and take part in a scavenger hunt at the Curious Curator day camp at the Okanagan Heritage Museum. It runs Tuesday to Friday over the two weeks of spring break. Head to the website for the all the information you’ll need.

And it’s spring skiing and boarding at Big White Ski Resort, which is open daily during the two weeks of spring break. Check out the website for more information.
