Finally, a sunny weekend is forecast in the Okanagan

Environment Canada says Okanagan residents can expect a mix of sun and cloud over the next two days, followed by sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-teens through the weekend and into next week.

OKANAGAN - A beautiful fall weekend is in store for the Okanagan.

Environment Canada is calling for sunshine both Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures in line with normals for this time of year.

The southern third of the province will miss most of the effects of a cold front passing through the province on Friday, resulting in a mix of sun and cloud tomorrow, followed by sunny skies through the weekend, according to Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan.

The forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day in Kelowna and Vernon today, Oct. 11, while Penticton will see a mix of sun and cloud. The high today is 12 Celsius in Kelowna and Vernon, but Penticton will be slightly warmer with a high of 15 C. Skies will clear overnight and mercury will drop to just above freezing at 1 C.

The Okanagan should see a mix of sun and cloud tomorrow with a gusty wind in the afternoon and a high of around 15 C. With the clear sky overnight, the temperature is expected to drop below freezing to -1 C.

The forecast for the weekend calls for sunshine both Saturday and Sunday, with highs of around 14 C both days.

The sunny skies are expected to last well into next week, with a high of 16 C predicted for Tuesday.

Normal temperatures this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 13 C and lows of 3 C.
