Finalists announced for Mayor's Award for the Arts in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - The finalists for the 12th annual Mayor's Gala for the Arts have been announced.

The gala is a partnership with the Kamloops Art Gallery, Kamloops Symphony, Western Canada Theatre and the city of Kamloops to celebrate arts and culture within Kamloops and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

Community Impact category

Finalists were recognized based on their contribution to supporting local arts and culture through donations, sponsorships, and volunteer services in support of a local arts organization or artists. The finalists in this category are Tyson Andrykew and Niki Remesz.

Corporate Champion category

Kamloops business leaders or corporation nominees were chosen based on their contributions that support local arts and culture through donations, sponsorship and volunteer services in support of local arts organizations or artists. The finalists in this category are ideaLEVER and Kamloops This Week.

Emerging Artist category

Artists, musicians, and performers in the visual and performing arts are being recognized for their current accomplishments and future potential. The finalists in this category are JP Lancaster, Zach Abney, and Robin Hodgson.

“Our heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees and the finalists in each of these award categories,” Margaret Chrumka, co-chair of the Mayor’s Award for the Arts committee says in a press release. “These nominees have contributed significantly to the vibrancy of the arts community in Kamloops and we are so grateful for their commitment to demonstrating that the arts are an important social and economic contributor.”

The Mayor's Awards for the Arts will be presented on Jan. 19, 2019 at the Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre.

Tickets will be available starting this Friday, Nov. 15 at 250-374-5483 or online at the Kamloops Live! Box Office website.
