THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - If you are a fan of the Tragically Hip and live in the Interior, you’re going to have to travel a bit to see their final tour.
The Tragically Hip recently announced frontman Gord Downie has terminal brain cancer but will continue to perform with bandmates Paul Langlois, Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair and Johnny Fay.
None of the venues announced today, May 25, are in the Thompson-Okanagan, however
The tour starts in Victoria July 22 and includes stops in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and London. There will be two shows in Toronto before the band heads to Hamilton, Ottawa and their hometown of Kingston.
The iconic Canadian group’s 14th album, Man Machine Poem, is set for release on June 17. The album was largely completed prior to Downie learning about the tumour in December, his manager said.
