Film and TV pros want help scouting rustic backdrops in the South Okanagan

The region's film and television industry needs more places to shoot in the South Okanagan.

Members of the Okanagan Film Commission have a few particular ideas in mind, and are reaching out to those in the southern part of the valley for help.

“We are looking for desert ranchlands and large arid properties with landscape features including mountain views, rivers, lakes, and rock formations,” locations officer Gord Wylie said in a press release.

“As well, we are scouting for land with features such as derelict and tumble down buildings, houses, barns, and even old warehouses.”

The Commission is looking for areas specifically between Penticton and the U.S. border, between the Kootenay Boundary and as far west as Princeton.

“This region is now a film production centre, and as such there is interest in these types of locations,” Okanagan Film Commissioner, Jon Summerland said in the release.

“If you have any questions about properties and/or buildings that might be suitable, as described above, for a film/tv location, please contact Gord.”
