UPDATE: Police investigating murder after man dies in downtown Kelowna

Water Street in Kelowna closed off by police following serious incident Oct. 9, 2022.

The Kelowna RCMP is investigating a murder after a fight in the city's downtown led to a man's death.

At approximately 12:43 a.m., Oct. 9, police received a report that a group of people were involved in an altercation outside of the Cactus Club downtown, according to the RCMP in a news release.

While en-route to the scene, police officers were advised that one of the individuals had been stabbed during the altercation. Upon arrival, RCMP officers found a man lying on the grass with another man attempting life-saving measures.

BC Ambulance arrived but the 32-year-old succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken the control of the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident and have yet to speak with police or have dash camera recordings is being asked to call 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2022-63746.

Multiple police vehicles were seen this morning, Oct. 9, outside of Kelowna's Cactus Club. The RCMP also taped off a section of Water Street.
