PRITCHARD – With three kilometres of highway construction completed, the federal and provincial governments have announced $94.4 million in funding to complete the expansion of Highway 1 from Hoffman's Bluff to Chase Creek.
The province is contributing $18.3 million, while $76.1 million is coming from Ottawa.
The money is paying to widen a 7.5-kilometre section of the Trans Canada west of Chase from two lanes to four lanes, which connects to the 16 km of completed highway construction or ongoing construction between Monte Creek and Hoffman's Bluff, according to a media release.
"This work will mark the completion of our commitment to expand Highway 1 to four lanes between Pritchard and Hoffman's Bluff and is a significant part of our goal to increase investment on this corridor to over $1 billion with partners over the next 10 years with planning and design of additional works underway," Todd Stone Minister of Transportation says in the release.
