KINGSTON, Ont. - Chris Patrician scored on a 94-yard punt return to help the Queen's Gaels to a 34-0 rout of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks in a Canadian university football playoff game Saturday.
The Western Ontario Mustangs outscored the Windsor Lancers 56-35 in the other Ontario University Athletics quarter-final matchup.
The other three Canadian University Sport conferences closed out regular-season play Saturday. Saint Mary's crushed St.FX 49-3, Acadia topped Mount Allison 45-24 and Sherbrooke beat McGill 30-17.
Laval downed Concordia 32-19 and Montreal thumped Bishop's 37-7. Manitoba was to play Calgary in the late game.
At Kingston, Ont., Giovanni Aprile also scored an early touchdown on a 17-yard reception as Queen's jumped out to a 17-0 lead at Richardson Stadium.
Billy McPhee added some insurance in the second half with a two-yard touchdown run. Dillon Wamsley kicked two field goals and Queen's added six points on three safeties.
Quarterback Billy McPhee was 21 for 31 for 225 passing yards. Running back Jesse Andrews led the Gaels on the ground with 135 yards on 22 carries.
Queen's recorded 401 yards of total offence to just 179 for the Golden Hawks. Laurier QB James Fracas was 17 for 31 for 161 yards with one interception.
At London, Ont., Will Finch threw four touchdown passes to Matt Uren in the Mustangs' victory at TD Waterhouse Stadium. Finch was 20 of 29 for 334 yards as Western racked up a whopping 489 yards of total offence.
Western held a slim 13-12 lead after the first quarter before erupting for 31 second-quarter points.
