Calgary Stampeders make return of all-star receiver Eric Rogers official

CALGARY - The Calgary Stampeders made the return of all-star receiver Eric Rogers official Thursday.

The 27-year-old Californian needed to pass a physical before re-joining the CFL team.

Rogers led the league in receiving yards in 2015 with 1,448 and tied for the most touchdowns with 10.

He signed with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers the following season. Rogers injured his anterior cruciate ligament in training camp and was released in 2017.

"Eric was an excellent and productive player for us and we're very pleased to welcome him back," Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement.

"Eric is familiar with our offence and he obviously had an excellent rapport with Bo Levi Mitchell, so I look forward to seeing him perform once he's been given an opportunity to get readjusted after two years away from the CFL."

The six-foot-three, 210-pound wideout played 19 games for Calgary winning a Grey Cup in 2014 and earning all-star honours in 2015.

Both a football and triple-jump star at California Lutheran, Rogers caught 220 passes for 3,461 yards and 41 touchdowns during his college career with the Kingsmen.
