Canadian Football League issues fines to five players for on-field incidents

TORONTO - The CFL fined Montreal Alouettes linebacker Kyries Hebert on Thursday for his high hit on Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish.

Hebert was ejected in the fourth quarter of Calgary's 29-8 win Saturday. It came shortly after Stampeders' receiver Nik Lewis's hit on Montreal's Marc-Olivier Brouillette, who suffered a rib injury on the play.

Hebert had a hearing Wednesday with CFL commissioner Mark Cohon, who fined Hebert half his game cheque. That's the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.

Also fined were Edmonton's Thaddeus Coleman (hitting B.C. opponent in the head), Calgary's Corey Mace (punching), Saskatchewan's Rob Bagg (punching) and Hamilton's Craig Butler (helmet-to-helmet hit).
