UPDATE: Man hit and killed by train near Chase

CHASE - A 59-year-old man was killed when struck by a train yesterday near Chase.

On Jun. 1 at approximately 4:40pm, police received word of a pedestrian being hit by a train, according to an RCMP media release. The incident happened approximately five kilometers west of Chase.

Police and CP Police Service attended the scene. The investigation determined the man was walking on the railway tracks when he was struck by an eastbound train.

Chase Detachment members arrived on scene and performed CPR until Air Ambulance arrived and pronounced the man deceased.  

Police say the 50-year-old man was from the Lee Creek area of B.C. Police are not releasing his identity.
