Farm outbuilding destroyed in Summerland fire

PENTICTON - A farm building is Summerland was heavily damage by fire yesterday morning.

Summerland firefighters were called at about 11:10 a.m., Jan. 13, to the fire in an outbuilding at 9505 Gilman Road. The first crews on the scene say the 1,200 square foot building was engulfed in flames.

Crews had some difficulties fighting the fire due to its location on the property, in addition to having to shuttle water because there were no hydrants in the area. Two engines and a water tender were used to fight the blaze.

No livestock was killed and not one was hurt.

Summerland Fire Chief Glenn Noble says the building was heavily damaged by the blaze.

He says the cause is undetermined.
