A local film production company is looking for extras to play street hockey in a video shoot in Kelowna next week.

Kelowna's Gospel Mission has commissioned Solid Rock Video to shoot a street hockey film on Oct. 22 and is looking for volunteer extras, according to a media release.

Michael Morrison, director of development at the Gospel Mission, said they want to show that homeless people are the same as anyone.

"It is certain situations that change our path,” Morrison said. “This video can help to take away that negative picture.”

Volunteers of all ages are invited to the filming at 259 Leon Ave. (in front of Kelowna's Gospel Mission) on Tuesday, Oct. 22, between 9:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to join the ongoing game on a drop-in basis or cheer on the players from the sidelines.

Hockey sticks will be provided. Wearing hockey jerseys is optional.

Leon Avenue between Abbott Street and Water Street will be closed to traffic and parking between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. that day.
