Experienced people running to replace Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian

Ken Christian at city hall on election night, Oct. 20, 2018 when he was elected Mayor of Kamloops.

In the five-person field of candidates to become the new mayor of Kamloops, four have city council experience.

Mayor Ken Christian announced in February that he was not running for re-election, giving prospective replacements plenty of time to gear up for the race.

That’s just what three sitting councillors did in throwing their hats into the race.

Arjun Singh, who topped the polls in 2018, Dieter Dudy who finished fourth and Sadie Hunter who was seventh in the polls have all filed their nomination papers.

Also in the running is former city councillor Ray Dhaliwal who won a by-election in 2017 but finished ninth in 2018.

Car dealership owner Reid Hamer-Jackson is also in the running.
