PENTICTON - With a forecast calling for winter temperatures this weekend, it’s an ideal time to take advantage of the Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C.’s annual Learn to Ice Fish event at Yellow Lake.

Freshwater Fisheries partners with B.C. Fishn’, B.C. Wildlife Federation and the province to host this free event.

It takes place on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Yellow Lake on Highway 3A, located approximately 12 kilometres west of the junction of Highways 3A and 97, south of Penticton.

Ice fishing rods and tackle are provided, in addition to a barbecue lunch. Persons 16 years of age and older require a valid freshwater fishing license.

Staging takes place at the southwest end of the lake, where parking is available.

The event will go ahead as long as ice conditions permit.
