The cooler, wet weather has B.C. Wildfire comfortable enough to advise the Township of Spallumcheen to reduce the evacuation order in the community to an alert, and lift the alert altogether for others.
As of 4:45 p.m. today, Aug. 17, residents evacuated due to the White Rock Lake wildfire in the community north of Vernon can return home, according to a township media release.
The evacuation alert for other properties has now been lifted.
The township said residents do not need temporary access permits to return to their properties.
For a complete list of the properties now under evacuation alert go to the township website here.
The wildfire is still in close proximity to the community and the Spallumcheen advises returning residents to be prepared to leave on short notice if the situation changes.
