Evacuation order issued for 56 properties in Thompson Nicola due to flood risk

The Thompson Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation order for 56 properties today.

The order for properties in Electoral Area N in the Petit Creek/Spius Creek Area was released Nov. 28 as flood waters are threatening the Spius Creek bridge.

RCMP officers are actively carrying out tactical evacuations for properties affected, according to the regional district.

These properties include:

• 2164 to 2480 Cleasby Rd;
• 3141 and 3181 Cummings Rd;
• 3265 Cummings Rd;
• 3511 to 3593 Cummings Rd;
• 3660 and 3700 Cummings Rd;
• 3725 to3816 Davidson Rd;
• 3425 to 3455 D’Easum Rd;
• 2728 to 3285 Petit Creek Rd;
• 3581 to 3793 Petit Creek Rd;
• 3901 Petit Creek Rd;
• 3020 Prospect Creek FSR;
• 3141 and 3144 Prospect Creek FSR;
• 4024 Prospect Creek FSR;

The City of Merritt is also urging residents to be prepared for potential flooding of the Coldwater River and asks all residents under an evacuation order to evacuate from the area by 3 p.m. today.
