FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS - Wildfire poses an immediate threat to people and property in the Allie Lake area.

Yesterday, May 25, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) issued an evacuation alert for the following 51 address points:

  • 5160, 5193, 5233, 5245, 5401, 5450 Bonaparte Lake
  • 9992 to 10096 Bonaparte-Spur Lake FSR
  • 4680 to 5760 Eagan-Bonaparte Lake FSR

An evacuation alert has been issued to prepare residents to evacuate the premises and property should it become necessary.

Residents will be given as much advance warning as possible prior to the evacuation; however may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

A media release sent out today, May 26, lists five things to do when an evacuation alert is in effect.

  1. Locate all family members and be prepared to evacuate your residence and property to an identified safe reception center.
  2. Gather essential items such as medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (insurance), photographs and immediate care needs for dependants.
  3. Prepare to move any disabled persons and children.
  4. Collect pets and pet needs.
  5. If possible, move livestock to a safe area.

If an evacuation is required, residents will need to exit the area.

A reception center has been established at the Barriere Lions Hall at 4354 Borthwick Ave in Barriere, B.C. All residents who have been evacuated must register with Emergency Social Services at the designated reception center.

Registration provides emergency personnel and family members with a list of evacuees and will provide evacuated residents with food, shelter and other personal necessities.

If you require transportation assistance or more information contact the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Emergency Operations Centre at 1-866-377-7188.
