Evacuation alerts cleared for more than 500 properties near Sparks Lake wildfire

Evacuation alerts within the Thompson Nicola Regional District for more than 500 properties has been cleared.

An evacuation alert in Electoral Area E, Bonaparte Plateau, and Electoral Area O, Lower North Thompson for 88 properties, was rescinded to all clear last night.

An alert in Electoral Area I, Blue Sky Country and Electoral Area J, Copper Desert Country has also been rescinded for 245 properties.

Another alert in Electoral Area O, Lower North Thompson and Electoral Area P, Rivers and Peaks, for 231 properties from Darfield to McLure, has been rescinded to all clear as the threat of wildfire in the area no longer poses an imminent risk to the safety of residents, according to the regional district.

Should conditions change, an evacuation alert or evacuation order could be reinstated as necessary. Contact the Emergency Operations Centre for further information, according to the regional district.

The Sparks Lake wildfire is currently 93,533 hectares in size and burning to the north of Kamloops Lake.
