Evacuation alert upgraded to order for Juliet Creek/Murray Lake Wildfire

The Thompson Nicola Regional District is responding to changes in the Juliet Creek/Murray Lake wildfire.

Friday’s evacuation alert has now become an evacuation order for properties bordering Murray Lake and along the Maka Murray Fire Service Road. These properties are located in the Electoral Area “N” otherwise known as Beautiful Nicola Valley.

Those evacuated are being told to leave immediately and report to the Emergency Social Services Reception Centre at 1720 Coldwater Avenue in Merritt. Evacuees should also turn off propane, and electrical appliances.

The rapidly-moving Juliet Creek wildfire is listed on the B.C. Wildfire fires of note webpage. It is an estimated 600 hectares in size as of this morning.
