4 senior Ukraine officials investigated in crackdown on protest, face house arrest

Remaining on duty overnight volunteers warm themselves at a bonfire at a Pro-European Union's tent camp in the Independence Square in Kiev, Ukraine, Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. The opposition has called for a vast turnout Sunday. Rallies on the previous two Sundays drew hundreds of thousands of protesters. KIEV, Ukraine - Ukraine's president has suspended the head of Kyiv city administration and the deputy head of the national security council over the violent police response to a small demonstration.

President Viktor Yanukovych's move on Saturday followed closely after Ukraine's prosecutor-general announced that those officials and two others were being investigated on suspicion of abuse of office and will soon be placed under house arrest.
