Polish minister angers women with glass ceiling remark

WARSAW, Poland - A Polish government minister was booed and jeered at a women's congress for suggesting that the idea of a glass ceiling for women in business only exists in their minds.

Wojciech Kaczmarczyk, charged by the socially conservative Polish government to monitor matters of equality, also offended his audience Friday for singling out nuns as a group of women particularly deserving respect.

His words were met with shouts of: "Get off the stage!"

The uproar comes days after Kaczmarczyk argued that business owners should have the right to deny service to gays and blacks, arguing in favour of freedom in the market.

President Andrzej Duda, who also hails from Law and Justice ruling party, also offended the women with a letter referring to "myths" surrounding women's situation in Polish society.
