SKOPJE, Macedonia - Macedonia is a step closer to postponing elections for a second time after the governing coalition's junior partner said it will not submit its candidate list to the state electoral commission.
Artan Grubi, spokesman for the ethnic Albanian Democratic Union for Integration, or DUI, said the party would not submit the list by the Wednesday midnight deadline.
Early elections were originally scheduled for April 24 but were postponed until June 5 after opposition complaints that conditions for a free and fair vote were not met.
The main opposition Social Democrats have already announced they will boycott the election, saying those conditions have still not been met. The governing conservative party insists the vote will be held.
Macedonia has been in political turmoil for 14 months following a wiretapping scandal.
