KELOWNA - A serving of anti-Ribfest sentiment will be dished up tonight to passersby of Kelowna’s Interior Savings Credit Union.
Local environmental group, Kelowna Climate Save will be “chalking outside of Interior Savings due to their main sponsorship of the Kelowna RibFest" from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The group has concerns with the impact that animal agriculture has on the planet, and would like to see an end to Kelowna RibFest.
“It’s a scientific consensus that farming animals are contributing to the rapid destruction of our planet, and depletion of precious resources, we need to face the severity of what’s happening and make the necessary lifestyle changes to combat this,” reads the statement from the group.
Participants intend to write messages such as; “what is more important, ribs or your kids?” and “please cancel RibFest.”
Kelowna Climate Save is a chapter of the worldwide Climate Save Movement.
The Interior Savings Sunrise Rotary RibFest is Aug. 23 to 25 at City Park.
It offers music and other stage entertainment, family activities featuring a Kids Zone, a beverage garden, market vendors, and barbeque ribs and chicken from our out-of-town Ribbers, along with a variety of food and beverages from local food vendors for three days. Entrance is free for everyone.
