PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are investigating a single vehicle collision involving a fatality on Carmi Avenue today.

Police and Penticton Fire Department personnel responded to a call of a pickup truck on its roof near Holden Road and Carmi Avenue around 8:00 a.m. today, Nov.19.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy said in a media release police found a deceased man in his 20s inside the vehcile.

The truck apparently failed to negotiate a curve near an electrical substation and went off the road, striking a storage container and coming to rest at the base of an embankment inside the Superior Peat yard at 1700 Carmi Ave.

"It is uncertain when the collision occurred, but it appeared to have happened sometime overnight," Grandy said in the release.

RCMP have not released the man's identity or said how he died.

The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate.
