SUN PEAKS - An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene of a serious crash near Sun Peaks this morning.

A passenger van and a cube van collided just after 9 a.m. today, March 16, near the Burfield Drive area, Cpl. Chery Bush of Kamloops RCMP says. The passenger van contained nine occupants.

The roadway was closed in both directions but reopened by 11:30 a.m.

Five ground ambulances and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene, according to B.C. Emergency Health Services spokesperson Fatima Siddiqui. Four patients are believed to be involved. She was unable to provide health statuses for those involved, but Bush says it appears none of the injuries are critical.

Investigators on scene say road conditions may have contributed to the crash.
