Kamloops emergency crews were able to rescue a man from under the Halston Bridge this morning.

"At approximately 6:10 a.m. on May 23, Kamloops RCMP responded to an assistance request from BC Emergency Health Services for a man under the Halston Bridge in Kamloops. The man swam to this location and was on a log boom," according to RCMP Sgt. Jeff Bingley, in a media release.

"The RCMP and Kamloops firefighters were able to safely negotiate him into the fire rescue boat and he was subsequently apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to Royal Inland Hospital for evaluation," according to the media release.

No injuries were reported the incident, according to the news release.

This is the second time in two days that emergency crews have had to rescue people in distress on the Thompson Rivers.
