PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP are investigating a "violent persons offence" involving seniors today.
Police were called to the 3300 block of Skaha Lake Road around 7:45 a.m. today, Sept. 6, to find a 78-year-old woman suffering non-life threatening injuries, according to an RCMP media release. She was taken to hospital.
A 77-year-old man was arrested and is currently in custody in relation to the incident.
"Investigators have determined there is no ongoing risk to the public," Penticton RCMP Sgt. Andrew Baylis said the release. "Further details may be available as the investigation progresses."
Police were not available to explain more fully the nature of the “violent persons offence,” and how the woman was assaulted.
