OLIVER - Police want to speak to the driver of an older model Chevy pickup truck after a woman was stuck and ultimately killed while crossing Main Street at the intersection of Fairview Road in Oliver Tuesday morning.
The accident happened at 6:21 a.m. Nov. 25. RCMP say the elderly woman was attempting to cross the street and was hit by a northbound vehicle. They say the driver stopped with the intent of offering assistance to the woman who was now lying on the road, but before contact was made she was run over by a truck. The second vehicle is described as a late 1980s model white Chevrolet pickup with no canopy.
Police are still piecing events together and would like witnesses or anyone who may have information to contact the South Okanagan Traffic Services in Keremeos at 250-499-2250 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
