Elderly North Okanagan man with Alzheimer's still missing

RCMP are reminding the public an elderly Coldstream man with Alzheimer's who disappeared more than two months ago is still missing.

Robert Lee Baines, 83, was reported missing from his son's house on Ponderosa Way in Coldstream on Jan. 2. Baines had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's just before his disappearance.

"Some time has passed since Mr. Baines was reported missing and we are issuing this information again to remind the public that he has not been found," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in a media release issued today, March 6.

"An extensive search was conducted in his neighbourhood, Kalamalka Park and on Kalamalka Lake without any success.

"With spring approaching, more people will be frequenting these areas, and we'd like to remind the public to keep an eye out for anything that might help us find him."

RCMP describe Baines as an 83-year-old male, 6' tall, 221 lb., bald with brown eyes. He was last seenwearing a green Tilly hat, a green jacket, a grey Stanfields sweater, blue jeans and brown Merrell hiking shoes.

Anyone with relevant information should contact their local police.
