A father in Edmonton is reaching out for help on social media after his daughter was reported missing a week ago.

Martin Smith of Edmonton is frantically searching for his 13-year-old daughter Lila Smith.

“Unfortunately we are still looking for that clue that will tell us where Lila went,” he said in a Facebook post today, June 30.

Lila was reported missing after she didn’t show up to Killarney Junior High School as expected on Friday morning, June 24. Smith is sharing the story to other cities in Canada in the event Lila has been moved. Residents of Kelowna are asked to keep their eyes open for the young girl as she might be in another city or province after so many days have passed.

In the meantime, the Edmonton Police Service and members of the community continue to look for answers.

“The search continues for camera footage to confirm what happened when Lila turned the corner of the school on 132 Ave,” Smith said in the post. “The (Edmonton Police Service) are working hard to hunt for and review camera footage in the area.”

Smith is asking for help searching the outskirts of Edmonton and for others to share the story in the surrounding rural communities, including range roads.

Today, June 30 he is pushing for people in other major centres in Canada to keep vigilant for Lila.

“If Lila is being moved, we need people all over Canada to keep your eyes open,” he said. “In this amount of time she could be anywhere. Remember what Lila was wearing and keep your eyes open for her clothing, her school bag and anything the might suggest she was there at any time.”

Lila was last seen wearing a hoodie which has a blue body and white arms with a black and white checkered hoodie pocket, ripped blue jeans, black Converse shoes and carrying a backpack.

She is described as a Caucasian female around 5’10" tall weighing approximately 110 lbs with blue eyes and short brown hair.

“I’m appealing to whoever has her to return her home,” Smith said. “We don’t care who you are, we only care that Lila is returned to us. She is too young and innocent to be going through this.

“I know she is scared and needs her family. Just leave her in a public place where she can get help. She knows my number and can contact me. Please do the right thing.”

Anyone who has information regarding Smith's whereabouts is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567.

Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
