Interior B.C. transit options are returning as COVID-19 restrictions lift and operators return to service.

Ebus, which suspended service on April 5 in B.C., announced yesterday, May 25, a scheduled return to motor coach service on June 4. The company has also introduced a new cleaning program to help ensure the safety of its passengers.

“We’re very proud of the work we’ve done over the last two months during the COVID crisis,” vice-president Matthew Cox said in a press release. “From suspending our operations early enough to make a difference in protecting our staff, passengers and the communities in which we operate, to engaging passengers for feedback in our relaunch planning, to developing new processes to ensure safe travel conditions for everyone."

The company has added a program known as Safety Clean, which will include the mandatory use of face masks by all passengers. Ebus masks will be available for purchase for those who don’t have their own.

Social distancing will be applied in offices, during check-in, embarking, onboard and disembarking.

Ebus will employ enhanced cleaning protocols on all frequently touched surfaces, and electrostatic sprayers will be used to allow the appropriate sanitizer to wrap around and evenly coat all surfaces for more complete cleaning.

Ebus provides scheduled bus service to Vancouver, Kamloops and Kelowna.
