Some Kamloops residents are experiencing long delays in local taxi cab services, often waiting for up to an hour for a pickup during this busy holiday season.

Here are a couple of alternative pickup and drop off services ready to get you home quickly and safely.

Drinkin’ Thinkin’ is open with reduced hours of service due to COVID-19. The sober driving service is operating Friday and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and not only will they get you home, they get your vehicle home for you too.

“We are still taking pre-bookings,” the team said on Facebook. “Please keep us in mind for any events you may have. With COVID-19 we request that you do not go out if you have a cough, sneeze, fever or any uncommon illness. We do provide our drivers with masks, gloves and sanitizer.”

Rates start at $30 for the first four kilometres then go up $5 for every four kilometres after.

The team at Operation Red Nose is offering their holiday pickup services for the 25th year in Kamloops.

The organization is made up of 70 volunteers and offers free rides to drivers who may have been drinking during the holiday season. They also bring your vehicle safely home.

“The rides are all by donation so whatever you’d like to give back is greatly appreciated,” said program coordinator Elsa Poppleton. “It gets you and your vehicle home safely and all the money raised goes to Pacific Sport to support amateur athletes in sport.”

This year, all volunteer drivers and people accessing the service must have both COVID-19 shots to participate.

ZERO Tolerance DD’s has been operating year round for over 10 years.

They are available Wednesday and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. They do not require a vaccine passport.

Rates are $25 for every four kilometres and $5 for every additional four kilometres.

“Our drivers come out and drive you and your vehicle home,” said owner Barry Salter. “We want customers to feel that our drivers are a part of their extended family. Care and compassion is a huge aspect of the hiring process. Customers are the main concern for us.”

Before you head out for an evening of fun, you might want to add these three numbers to your phone.

Operation Red Nose – (250) 320-0650
