THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Heavy snowfall on the Coquihalla Highway is causing driving conditions to deteriorate and drivers are being asked to consider not using the route.

Drive B.C. is warning heavy snowfall is expected this afternoon, March 9, overnight and into tomorrow on Highway 5 between Merritt and Hope.

Extreme winter driving conditions are expected thanks to the snow.

Drive B.C. says people should consider alternate travel plans — and if they do take the route between the Interior and the Lower Mainland — to expect delays.

For the latest updates and road conditions check out the Drive B.C. website.
