An Environment Canada meteorologist is warning drivers to expect snow on the Coquihalla today and tonight.

“Today for the Coquihalla we’re expecting about two to four centimetres but tonight we’ll see some more flurries come in with amounts up to about 10 cm, so certainly it’s looking cool and snowy on the Coquihalla today and into tonight and even into tomorrow,” said meteorologist Bobby Sekhon, with Environment Canada.

The Okanagan Connector, Highway 97C, may also see about five cm tonight, he said.

He recommends drivers check DriveB.C. before heading out, he said.

Winter tires or chains are required on most mountain passes in British Columbia from Oct. 1 to April 30.

In some cases, where highways don’t go over mountain passes or go through high snowfall areas, the requirements end on March 1 instead of April 30.

No highway alerts are currently in effect, as of Sunday morning, Nov. 7.
