VERNON - A driver has been ticketed for setting off a chain of events involving three vehicles the afternoon of Tuesday, May 12.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. at Highway 6 and 15 Street and sent two children to hospital.
Police spoke with the drivers involved, and witnesses to figure out what happened, RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said in a media release.
A woman in a grey Honda Accord was facing east, turning left from Highway 6 onto 15 Street on a green light and collided into an oncoming blue Volvo travelling west on Highway 6, going through the green light, Molendyk said.
The woman driving the Volvo attempted to avoid the collision by swerving to the right, but clipped the front of the Honda, then crashed into a light post.
“This vehicle spun around and collided into a grey Chevy Silverado that was behind the Honda in the turning lane,” Molendyk said.
Witnesses said the driver of the Honda turned into the Volvo. A nine-year-old and 12-year-old in the Volvo were transported to hospital to be checked out, Molendyk said.
The investigating officer issued a violation ticket to the driver of the Honda for failing to yield on a left turn.
