Kamloops RCMP are searching for a stolen car which evaded police twice this week.
An older model grey Honda Civic was stolen on the morning of Sept. 23, from a gas station on Paul Lake Rd, according to an RCMP press release.
Police spotted the car going east on the Trans-Canada Highway on Sept. 26, and officers pursued the vehicle.
“Officers attempted to stop the Honda, but it fled on the highway at a high rate of speed,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
Officers saw the car again today on Victoria Street at around 1:40 a.m.
The Honda allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic and ran a red light at Battle Street and Columbia before getting away from police.
“We are releasing an image of the vehicle with the hope that someone will recognize it and have information related to its whereabouts and activities,” Cpl. Evelyn said.
“The Honda is a common colour and model, and may be changing its license plates, but there is a chance someone observed a vehicle only recently show up in an area, or involved in suspicious activities, that causes them to believe it could be the same one.”
Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-34967.
