Driver in 'critical condition' after rock hits vehicle along Highway 1

One person is in the hospital in critical condition after a rock fell on their vehicle while they were driving along Highway 1.

Golden RCMP reported the rock fell roughly four kilometres east of Golden in Kicking Horse Canyon on Highway 1, March 4 at roughly 3:50 p.m., according to the police service's press release.

The person was brought to a local hospital and their family is with them.

Emergency crews were on scene and worked together to get drivers out of the danger zone to prevent further injuries.

The highway was closed for roughly two hours while crews cleared the scene.
