Driver flees when trailer unhitches and hits tree in Salmon Arm

Salmon Arm RCMP are looking for a female suspect who was driving a black pickup truck and towing a stolen tent trailer that became unhitched and crashed into a tree on Sunday.

According to a Salmon Arm media release, the incident happened Sunday, June 21, when the pickup was driving along 5 Street SE, Salmon Arm.

RCMP received a complaint that a 2016 Jayco tent trailer had become unhitched from what is thought to be a small black Mazda pickup truck and only came to a stop when it hit a tree.

The driver of the truck, believed to be female, fled the scene.

Police tracked down the owner of the trailer who told them if it wasn't at their storage unit then it had been stolen.

Salmon Arm RCMP are reviewing security footage to determine who may have been responsible for the theft.
