Driver dies after rear-ending a semi trailer in Surrey

SURREY - Highway 15 was closed in both directions yesterday after a fatal crash in Surrey.

Surrey RCMP came on scene Friday Oct. 5 at about 3:35 p.m. where a black SUV had rear-ended a semi tractor trailer, a media release says.

The driver of the SUV, a male New Westminster resident in his fifties was extricated from the vehicle, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Both vehicles were headed northbound on Highway 15, the crash happened near 32nd Avenue. The road was closed between 32 Avenue and 24 Avenue for several hours.

Surrey police are seeking the public’s assistance, and asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, drivers who passed through prior to the scene, or who have Dash Camera videos are asked to call 604-599-0502. Witnesses can also call Crime Stoppers in reference to Surrey File # 2018-149086.
