The recipients, including Brenda Baptiste of Osoyoos, Ruth Williams of Kamloops as well as provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Bublé received their awards during a ceremony yesterday, March 3.

The Order of B.C. is the province’s highest honour. Since its inception in 1989, 475 British Columbians have been appointed to the order from all regions of the province, according to the province’s press release.

“Congratulations to the newest members of the Order of B.C. Thank you for your passion, your hard work and the gifts you share with others,” said Premier John Horgan, in the press release. “Your achievements and accomplishments create a better B.C. for us all.”

Fields of endeavour may include community leadership, business, labour, industry, art, sports, volunteer service, professions and other occupations.

The event was live streamed last night, March 3, through the province’s YouTube channel.
