KELOWNA - A whole bunch of guns, and some drugs, are off the street after a raid at a downtown Kelowna home police say may have connections to organized crime.
A June 19 raid on a Belaire Avenue house by the Kelowna RCMP street enforcement unit resulted in the seizure of 16 handguns, five long guns and a saw-off shotgun, media officer Const. Lesley Smith said in a press release.
Police also say they seized quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, psilocybin and methamphetamine plus four high-end bicycles they believe to be stolen. Most of the recovered guns were stolen from a house in Penticton, Smith said.
No names were released but Smith said a 33-year-old arrested during execution of the search warrant was well known to police and affiliated with an “organized crime group”.
A 38-year-old male and 39-year-old female were also arrested but all three have since been released from custody.
They will be back in court in September to answer drug, firearms and property-related charges, Smith said.
