September 09, 2021 - 3:18 PM

A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly starting five fires in downtown Kamloops on Monday morning.

Blake Matthew Hall, 41, is facing five charges for arson, a mischief charge and one charge for uttering threats after he was arrested on Sept. 6, according to a press release from Kamloops RCMP.

Police responded to a mischief report on Monday around 6 a.m. The caller reported a broken window and an aggressive man on the 200-block of Victoria Street, according to the release.

During the investigation, officers saw smoke coming from a dumpster in an alley on the 100-block of Victoria Street, then called Kamloops Fire Rescue to attend.

Before arresting Hall in an alley near 5 Avenue and St. Paul Street, officers found a grass fire near the suspect and three more dumpster fires along Victoria Street.

Hall was released on bail with a court date set for Sept. 16.
