Jury finds man guilty of murdering two roommates near Kamloops, B.C.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - A man has been found guilty of shooting two roommates and burying them on his property near Kamloops, B.C.

Roy Fraser was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 31-year-old Damien Marks and second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Ken Yaretz Jr.

The pair went missing in April 2009 and their bodies were found in a shallow grave the following month.

Fraser will get an automatic life prison sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.

A B.C. Supreme Court jury heard no forensic evidence tying Fraser to the killings, and his lawyer said Yaretz's gang associations could have led someone else to kill the two men.

But the Crown maintained Fraser was upset that Yaretz borrowed his truck and failed to return it and didn't pay Fraser for his part in a marijuana grow-op the two started on the Knuff Lake property. (CFJC)

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. An earlier version reported the name as Damian.
