Don't settle for a good lawyer, get a great one

Nixon Wenger Lawyers have had a presence in the community since 1973, opening their new building in 2010.

Facing the stress and legalities around the fallout from a car crash, challenging divorce or alleged wrongful employment dismissal is not something anyone wants to negotiate and fumble their way through.

The recent court case and sentencing hearing for the semi truck driver who demolished the Humbolt Broncos hockey team bus killing 16 and injuring 13 on a Saskatchewan highway may be an extreme case of legal action, but it’s the kind of unimaginable situation that makes finding your way through the legal system daunting.

“Finding the best service and outcome for our clients is our focus,” says Val Trevis, office manager for Vernon’s Nixon Wenger LLP Lawyers.

It’s this kind of knowledgeable dedication you want on your side to ease the stress of a difficult and trying legal situation, while gaining the best possible outcome. In fact, some of the most recent cases settled by the Nixon Wenger team have been over one million dollars each.

The successes aren’t surprising however, as to date, five of the firm’s lawyers have earned the Queen’s Counsel designation, two have become judges and one has earned his Masters of Law, while another has been the president of the BC Trial Lawyers Association.

Through the most turbulent times in people’s lives, the 13 partners and nine associates, along with the 55 staff at Nixon Wenger take pride and care in assisting their clients.

“Their knowledge, combined with a practical approach, results in effective representation,” says Trevis, who’s been with the firm for eight years.

This focus and dedication has been building for decades. The full service firm with a well established regional, national and even international practice prides itself on being a law firm that can assist with the everyday issues of people in the community, or the more complicated cases that can involve parties in other provinces or countries.
Family law, personal injury claims, wills, conveyance real estate, litigation and estate planning are the broad spectrum of practices handled by Nixon Wenger solicitors.

Knowledge and dedication are what makes Nixon Wenger Lawyers shine.

Founded in 1973 by Vince Dantzer, Don Wenger and Bill Wagner, the firm grew by one more partner, Paul Nixon, in 1975. From there, the firm continued to thrive and the name was changed several times until eventually it was decided to use; Nixon Wenger, and then Nixon Wenger LLP when it became a limited liability partnership.

Trevis says the firm has always maintained their downtown location and wanted to be sure that continued when it was decided to build a new building of their own in 2010.

“We wanted to continue to support downtown Vernon and continue with our strong presence throughout the community,” says Trevis, who adds that the employees enjoy the expansive roof top patio, lunch time yoga classes in the office and numerous social events.

The dedication to community is evident with the various events and fundraisers Nixon Wenger supports. As well, many of the solicitors participate in team coaching, sit on foundation boards and attend numerous meetings outside the firm.

The Vernon Rotary, United Way North Okanagan, Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, Central Okanagan Foundation, Kindale Developmental Association and the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation are just a handful of organizations sponsored and supported by Nixon Wenger, its staff and solicitors.

Feeling confident in your legal team is certainly one of the best ways to alleviate the stress, questions and fear around legal issues.
