Oliver RCMP are investigating a motorhome fire which claimed the life of a pet this morning.
Around 8:40 a.m., June 16, police were asked to assist the Oliver Fire Department with a burning motorhome at 1074 Pine Ridge Drive in Oliver.
The motorhome was the principal residence of the owner and was fully engulfed when emergency personnel arrived on scene.
The owner suffered minor injuries attempting to extinguish the fire but his dog died in the blaze.
Police say the fire is not suspicious, having started when a towel fell onto a hot plate, police spokesperson Sgt. Jason Bayda said in a press release issued this afternoon.
